Immersion in the Kyoto mikvah requires a participation fee, which helps cover the ongoing maintenance and operation of the mikvah.📌 The fee reflects, among other things, the high cost of maintaining the mikvah, including heating the immersion pool specifically for each immersion, cleaning, and carefully preparing the mikvah for each visitor.📌 For the current fee and payment details, please contact the mikvah attendant when scheduling your immersion.
No. It is not possible to immerse on Friday afternoons or before Jewish holidays. The Kyoto mikvah is located outside the city center, so immersing before Shabbat or a holiday would require traveling back by car after Shabbat or the holiday has begun.📌 Immersion on Saturday night and after Jewish holidays is possible, by advance appointment with the mikvah attendant.📌 Therefore, if you need to immerse before Shabbat or a holiday, please make arrangements to be in a location where this is possible, such as the Chabad Tokyo Mikvah.
All the necessary items for immersion are available at the mikvah.📌 You are also welcome to bring your own towel (from your hotel or home) if you prefer.📌 For information about scheduling an immersion and preparing for the mikvah, see the question: 🛁 "Is there a women's mikvah in Kyoto, and how do I schedule an immersion?"
